What is probably on your house now:
Traditional paints, used both internally and externally on homes are extremely harmful to the environment of our planet, and also to your own personal environment. These paints contain many known chemicals that can endanger not only you, your pets and your family, but the entire earth. We are dedicated to helping bring down the effects of this pollution by providing quality service, using quality paint that will not have the same negative effects as traditional paint.
The Facts:
The chemicals used in traditional paint have been found to create air pollution, not only outside in the environment, but within your own home. A house painted internally with traditional paint is consistently five times more polluted than the air outside.
What is causing this pollution? The paint probably used in your home uses Volatile Organic Compounds, or VOC’s, which emit that familiar ‘new paint’ aroma, but also can be very damaging to the body, according to the American Lung Association. These chemicals create compromising indoor air quality with VOC levels rising 1,000 times after a fresh coat is applied.
Some buildings emit VOC’s such as formaldehyde, trichloroethylene, benzene, and toluene, all found in traditional paint. These chemicals are either known, or suspected carcinogens and are released in the air your breath. This process is known as “Off-gassing,” and is the start of air pollution. Unfortunately, the amount of “off-gas” released from paint only increases with time, starting with that first coat.
Who is at risk:
Everyone exposed to this pollution can be affected, but those who are most at risk are pregnant women, small children, elderly people, pets, and those with already weakened immune systems or environmental allergies. The effects of paint can produce lung problems, irritation of the eyes and/or skin, liver and/or kidney damage, headaches and nausea.
The Earth is also in danger due to “off-gas.” The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) notes that the VOC’s in paint are the cause of 9% of the pollutants that create ground level Ozone. Ground level Ozone is extremely detrimental to the air quality of our earth and is causing a myriad of known problems including asthma and early death in humans, and Global Warming worldwide. .
How we are different:
Plenty of companies claim to use ‘green’ paint because the paint they use does not emit the same odor we associate with new paint. However, some companies simply replace the smelly VOC’s with odor masking agents such as formaldehyde, ammonia, acetone, or exempt solvents, which can be just as damaging.
The paint that we use not only retains the quality look of name brand paints, but it does not include any VOCs or carcinogens, making your home environment more healthy, and providing the environment protection as well. Best of all, the cost to you is about the same as those well known, harmful paints.
